When we take time to prayerfully study and not simply read the bible, there is an awakening that occurs in us. We will become wiser, not only in what God’s wishes are for our lives, but we will become better able to recognize the wiles of the Devil in everyday life that others continue to be blind to.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalms 19:7
There is nothing else on earth that we could take time to study and consider that leaves us in a better state of mind when we are finished, like God’s word does. When we study the bible, we come face to face with the reality that we of ourselves are nothing. It quickly becomes our hope and aspiration to be closer to God. As we realize the undeserved love that He has for us and see the extreme measures that He continues to exercise in order to save us from ourselves, our attitude towards life will change.
When the Holy Spirit is allowed to dwell in us, our goals become altered and more focused on God’s wishes. Our interaction with others will show evidence of a closer walk with God. If we continue to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and follow without hesitation His promptings, we will gradually leave self and our sinful will behind. In it’s place, will be God’s will for our lives.
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Jeremiah 15:16
Continuous humble prayer, diligent study of the bible, and full cooperation with the Holy Spirit will lead to a life of peace. While all around you, people and the things of this world are seemingly out of control, God’s own hand will guide you and assure you with a peace that He alone can provide. Those who fill their minds with the truths of the bible and with the help of the Holy Spirit, deny self daily, will be able to make it into God’s kingdom.
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Deuteronomy 8:3
When our thoughts are of God and His divine will for our lives and we stay in constant communion with heaven daily through prayer, the Devil cannot overcome us. Even while living here on earth in his temporary kingdom, surrounded by sin of every form, we may, through faith in Christ and constant prayer, build a wall around us that works to separate us from the Devil and his schemes for our downfall. Even though we cannot accomplish this in our own power, with divine power of the Lord and through faith in Him the victory will be ours for the taking. We will never be disappointed if we turn to God for help in any matter.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Psalms 16.8
